...so although I don't usually address news items--I like to keep Compulsive Analysis issues-based--I thought I owed you an explanation, on the off chance that you've been checking back and wondering why I haven't had anything to say.
Being unemployed is harder work than you'd think. I have these guilt issues--Charles the Great works 90 hours a week to subsidise my lifestyle, so I feel that I have to prove my value to the family unit in some other way. Over the past 5 weeks, other ways have included establishing online banking and bill-paying via Quicken (reference previous rants about automated phone-tree systems. I'll spare you the details, but suffice it to say that Regions Bank is now on my list), painting my hallway (one garish color left by previous occupants down, twelve left to go), mowing and weedeating (which my brother/erstwhile lawnboy heartily enjoyed as he looked on from my couch, watching my cable television and eating my food), compiling records of all of our belongings for insurance purposes (ok, I admit it, I'm still not done with that one. talk about tedious), and sadly, burying Bubba, the koi fish, who perished during the August heatwave. I say burying to soften the dirty truth--we knew there was no way that Peanut, the Analytical Puppydog would allow Bubba's corpse to rest in peace in our yard, so poor Bubba was interred by the North Little Rock Sanitation Department, if you catch my drift.
So things have been crazy, but unfortunately, I can't say that's an unusual condition for my life, and I'm starting to think I may be addicted to being busy. But that's fodder for another post.
So what have you been up to? Slap me some skin in the comments section.

Guilty. I still check back all the time.
Let's see--over the past 5 weeks I: visited the dentist twice, saw the lady doc, bid farewell to DB and KM before their trip to China, helped MDE paint two bedrooms, threw a baby shower for the coworker, joined facebook, flew to NC to see the Thompsons, made 8 sets of jewelry for a wedding party, saw the Lion King, attended a friend's wedding reception in N'ville (and caught up with the Kanes while there), hosted bunco, watched the VMAs, saw DB minus a spleen, found the building I want to turn into my store, and spent more money than I probably should have.
This weekend I'm headed to Indiana to meet MDE's relatives (very nervous). After that, hopefully I can just breathe. Well, breathe and make jewelry.
Guilty also, as charged. BUBBA!!! NO!!!!!!!!! May he float in peace. Girl, I can totally understand what you described about the guilt, as I experienced same for several months after moving to Arkansas. Be assured you do bring value to the household and this is merely a season in your marriage. There will be other seasons where perhaps YOU will carry the burden (?) with bringing home the bacon. Have you had a frank talk with your dear husband? Oh, and btw, you ARE busy. Not just in the traditional sense. At the risk of sounding patronizing, being a grownup is hard and I'm proud of you.
Well... I had surgery, quit my job, went white water rafting (that was before the surgery thing), played bunco, went to a bridal shower and saw the most gifts EVER given at any bridal shower EVER, almost got a kid, went to the dentist, watched the first two seasons of Bridezilla, and lost 4 pounds (from the spleen removal? who knows). Now i'm just counting down the days to start my new job. WOO HOO!
90 hours is a lot of working. But you're working, too. You're just not getting paid for it.
